Wellness Wednesday

NEW! Wellness Wednesdays

Please join us at River House (179 Marine Street) twice monthly for Wellness Wednesdays from 11am-12pm. Upcoming sessions will be held on April 18, May 2nd, and May 16th.  Florida Health Care Plans will give complimentary discussions regarding various health topics including diabetes, heart health, nutrition, & fitness so that you may keep your body and mind in optimal condition. In this class with Santino Pollicita, you will learn conversational Italian as well as the customs. Class are held at River House, 179 Marine Street. Cost to River House members is $30 for this 6-week session and $35 to non-members.

French Classes

NEW! Beginner French Classes

Discover France and the French Language with this interactive 6-week course which will help you learn basic French language skills and understand French culture through role-playing, storytelling and a situational real-life learning environment. This language and culture class will be taught by a native French instructor, Denise Baudinet, who has traveled worldwide and strengthened her interest in expanding multicultural communications and understanding in an “All About France” class beginning Wednesday, April 4th, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Please call 209-3655 to register for this 6-week session. Dinner and a Movie!

Join movie goers the third Thursday of each month at River House, 179 Marine Street. This month we will be showing Downsizing with Matt Damon on Thursday, April 19th. Doors open at 4pm with the movie beginning promptly at 4:30p.m. Call River House at 904-209-3655 to make your reservations. Cost is $15 for River House Members and $20 for Non-members. In addition to dinner, guests will receive a soft drink and popcorn. Beer and wine available at additional cost.

NEW! – Dream Interpretation

Have you ever wondered what your night dreams mean and about the symbolism in your dreams? Toni Wilder will be teaching a 4-week class on Active Dreaming and techniques to uncover the true meanings of our dreams. This 4-week class will be on April 3, 10, 17, & 24 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at River House (179 Marine St.). We will learn how to keep a Dream Journal and how to work with others in the group to understand the source and meaning of our dreams, as well as exploring the reality in which dream experiences take place. Active Dreaming enables us to bring energy and guidance from the dream world into everyday life. Cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Please call 209-3655 for

If you’ve ever been interested in learning how to play guitar, ukulele, banjo, or dulcimer, please join us at River House (179 Marine Street) on Tuesday, April 24th from 10am-12:30pm. Join us at River House (179 Marine Street) on Thursday, May 24th for a bite to eat with author and Stroke Educator Dr. Tom Broussard from 10am-11am. He will be discussing his book trilogy while you munch on goodies from our café. Signed copies of the books (Stroke Diary trilogy) will be available at additional cost. AARP Driver Improvement Class

NEW! AARP Driver Improvement Class

The Council on Aging and AARP will sponsor a class for mature drivers (55 and over). Driving is a skill that can and should be continually improved. A driver improvement course can help senior drivers keep driving knowledge fresh and get the most out of your vehicle, while reducing risk to you, your passengers and others on the road. AARP driver improvement courses may enable you to receive a discount on insurance premiums. Class will be held at River House (179 Marine Street) on Thursday, May 31st from 9:00 am -4:00 pm (30 min lunch break). Please call 209-3655 to reserve your place. River House Chorus is back and better than ever! Please join us on Fridays from 10am-11:30am (179 Marine Street) to enjoy the many fantastic mental, physical, and spiritual benefits of group singing. Instructor Diana Milesko is sure to inspire sensational singing with her invaluable talent, experience, and passion for music. Happy Hookers!

Come join us as we crochet and knit together.  We create lots of fun items that we then sell to raise money to sponsor people on the Meals-On-Wheels program.  We have fun doing what we love, and then turn around and use those creations to help others.  Does it get any better than that?

Euchre

Euchre!

Wednesday mornings from 10:30 until 12:30!

Euchre is a trick-taking card game played with four people. Popular in the Midwest and the United States Navy. The goal is for you and your partner to take at least three tricks of the same suit. A little bit strategy, easy to learn and a lot of fun! Bring a partner or meet one on Wednesday. Cost is included in your membership or $4 for non-members. Call 209-3655 to register.

Flow Yoga Class

Flow Yoga Classes will be held at River House, 179 Marine Street, on Wednesdays from 1:15-2:30 p.m. Yoga keeps our bodies more fit, the mind calmer and more relaxed. It is also beneficial in the prevention and control of common health and emotional problems linked to aging. Cost per class is $4 for River House Activity Members and $5 for non-members.

Scrabble Club

River House has a Scrabble Club that meets every Thursday from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Newcomers are always welcome. No charge to River House Activity Members and $4 to all others.

Pole Walking Class

Our Pole Walking Class meets on Mondays from 8:30-9:30 and 9:30-10:30 and on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00-10:00.  Pole walking is great exercise, and a fun wait to meet new friends.  Come to River house and learn more.

Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga is a practice that is accessible to people of all ages and all fitness levels. It has therapeutic benefits to seniors who may not be able to stand for long periods of time or who may be uncomfortable seated on the floor. Many standard yoga poses can easily be adapted for seniors to perform while sitting in a chair. This class is offered on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9:00- 10:00 a.m. with instructor, Margina Gabriel. Tech Help Is Here!

Flagler College students are on-hand to assist you with your tech issues on Wednesdays from 2:00-3:00 p.m.

Gypsy Skirt Dancing!

Many cultures around the world including India, Egypt, Spain, Africa, Mexico and the Caribbean dance with big skirts. Join us on Mondays starting April 16th from 11am-12pm at River House for a fun, festive class that celebrates diversity & the gypsy in us all! Moves are basic, but it’s still a great workout. Plus, other fun props (fans, umbrellas, etc.) will be added to our gypsy repertoire. Six loaner skirts will be available in each class. The cost for this six-week session in $25 members/$30 non-members. Grief Support Group

If you are grieving over the loss of a loved one we welcome you to join our monthly bereavement group where you can share thoughts, memories, and issues about these special people. This complimentary support group is led by Ronnie, a Bereavement Counselor at Community Hospice & Palliative Care with 25 years of experience. This group meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month on April 17th from 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m., at River House. Please call 904-209-3655 to join this support group.
